Imagine a Hollywood run not by movie studios, but by comic book publishers. Here, superheroes are the biggest celebrities, and everyone is trying to get published.
This is the story of Toupydoops, kindergarten teacher and aspiring comic book character.
Join Toupy, along with his best friend Teetereater, as they navigate through adventures in life, love, and comic book showbiz in their attempt to find a place where they truly belong.

You know how it is: you’re out with your best bud, goofing around in bullet-proof flak jackets, having some high-octane fun. The usual. Then you get a phonecall. Maybe your wife wants you to pick up some Chinese food on the way home. Maybe a telemarketer offers you a tempting deal on long distance. Or maybe a Cuban drug kingpin has kidnapped your sister – who just happens to be dating your best friend.
In any case, shit just got real.
Celebrate this iconic moment from Michael Bay’s 2003 masterpiece of buddy cop cinema “Bad Boys II” with the Limited Edition Toupydoops “Shit Just Got Real” print.
Printed on high-quality, glossy paper, this all-new 12“x16” print is suitable for framing (or just taping up to the wall. Seriously, it’s your room. I’m not going to tell you how to decorate).
Limited to 50 pieces, these prints will be available at this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2010. Stop by Small Press Table M12 and pick up yours before they blow up, Michael Bay style*.
*prints are not actually explosive

With yesterday’s passing of comics icon Harvey Pekar, I’ve dug up and posted The Toupydoops Name Story – a short I produced for the 2007 STAPLE! Anthology. See Toupy do his best Harvey Pekar (and me do my best R. Crumb) in this homage to one of my biggest comic influences.

Lobrau Productions will be back at San Diego Comic-Con this year with a trunk full of Toupydoops stuff, including some exclusives to be announced in a week or so.
We’ll be at Small Press Table M12 this year, along with Shane and Chris Houghton – creators of the excellent Reed Gunther.
Finding the Small Press section is easy. Just face all the really cool shit, then walk in the opposite direction. We’ll be there all week.
